Don't they look happy? This lovely photo of the Nixon family was taken back on June 14 1959 during a trip to Disneyland, California.

When this photo was taken, Nixon had been Vice President of the United States since 1953 and Disneyland had been open for nearly four years (July 17 1955).
Nixon was later elected to the presidency in 1968 and re-elected in 1972, defeating Democratic candidate George McGovern by one of the widest margins on record.
However Nixon is is most famous (or is that infamous?) for his part in the 'Watergate' scandal which lead to his resignation in August 1974 - so far he is the only US President to have resigned from the post.
